The Plan

Where should I be at two o’clock? Move the hour, and the shade moves with it.

14:00: the sun is high, and the Long Wall terraces are still in it. They fall into shade at about 15:00. Go under a vault.

Select a building to read about it.

A drawing of a fictional estate, not a survey.

A wall thick enough to sit in.

The glass stays at the inner face, so the whole 1.2 m reveal is outdoors. From outside, each opening reads as a deep shadow, not a window.

One span, used twice.

A room under an old stone cross-vault with a large arched glazed opening.
The Sestador’s stone vaults, 5.4 m wide.
A long dining room under four shallow concrete vaults, with glazed sides and a sea-green tiled bar.
The Refectori’s concrete vaults, also 5.4 m.
A low pavilion of four shallow concrete vaults glowing at dusk beside a long dark pool.
The Refectori, the one new building that curves.
The view from the tower roof across a low planted roof and dry land to a flat sea horizon.
From the Torre, the Long Wall reads as more land.

Now pick a room to wait out the noon in.
